Under Tru64 UNIX, the virtual Alpha can be configured to boot automatically by setting the following console variables:

>>> SET AUTO_ACTION BOOT
>>> SET BOOTDEF_DEV DKxnnn
>>> SET BOOT_OSFLAGS A

Note:By default, root login is only allowed via the console.  For continued root access without a console, edit /etc/securettys to allow root access via the network.
