FreeAXP is Avanti with no license units.  The same installation kit is used for both products.  FreeAXP provides a limited subset of Avanti features.  Installation, configuration, and running are identical to Avanti.  Transitioning to Avanti is as simple as plugging in a license dongle.  Both FreeAXP and Avanti can co-exist on a single host system.
